European Corporate Chess Championship 2020

European Corporate Chess Championship took place on 3rd and 4th October and was played through Tornelo Online Platform.

The concept was to have a GrandPrix event, with rapid tournament played in 8 rounds on 3rd October, and blitz event played in 9 rounds on 4th October.

Cumulative results of both days decided the Winner of the event – Sberbank Russia, who were convincing with taking both 1st places and crowned as the Winner of 1st European Online Corporate Chess Championship.

Second place was for Team Khareba from Georgia whose players fought for second place on both events.

Two teams tied for the bronze medal with the same score: UE “Information and Computing Center Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Belarus” and PROBIT Sp. z.o.o. from Poland, so the third place and prizes were divided equally between these two teams according to decision of the Organisers of the event and ECU President Mr. Zurab Azmaiparashvili.

Besides team results, the event comprised individual prizes. The best individual player of the event was Myshakov Fyodor (Sberbank Team) with cumulative score of 13.5 points (6/7 in rapid event and 7.5/9 in blitz event). Georgian Grandmaster Jojua Davit (Khareba Team) scored 6 points in rapid and 7 points in blitz event and took the second place, while Kadatsky Alexander (Sberbank Team) and Shanava Konstantine (Khareba Team) shared the bronze scoring 12.5 points each.

European Chess Union recognised the achievement of a very special organisation, whose management and staff have responded to the challenge of team spirit and morale in the workplace, and awarded The Chess for Life Grand Award to Kaspersky Russia.

Prizes:
The Team Winners will be awarded with full package Invitation for the Golden Pawn Award Ceremony which will take place in Monaco, dates will be announced by ECU.
The best ranked individual players will be awarded with e-medals certificates and with money prizes: 1st place 700 EUR, 2nd place 500 EUR and 3rd place 300 EUR.
The best ranked players in special categories will receive certificate to recognize their achievement.
