ETCC 2007 Press Office, 28-08-2007

Germany, one of Europe’s chess power-houses, announced their lineup for the European Team Chess Championships 2007 in Crete, 27 October – 7 November. Men’s team is lead by former Dortmund winner GM Arkadij Naiditsch while talented WGM Elisabeth Paehtz will be the first board of women’s team. It is interesting that the average age of the men’s team is 23,6 years old and the women’s 24,2. A truly youthful but also strong delegation!

The complete German team:
1. GM Arkadij Naiditsch (2652)
2. GM Jan Gustafsson (2606)
3. GM Rainer Buhmann (2583)
4. GM Leonid Kritz (2571)
5. GM David Baramidze (2569)

The complete German women’s team:
1. WGM Elisabeth Paehtz (2457)
2. WGM Ketino Kachiani-Gersinska (2405)
3. WGM Marta Michna (2377)
4. WFM Manuela Mader (2204)
5. WFM Melanie Ohme (2278)

Germany has won 3 times the bronze medal in the past (Haifa 1989, Batumi 1999, Leon 2001) and they will certainly try to repeat their success in Crete 2007!
