The International Chess Federation (FIDE) has published the February rating list. Magnus Carlsen is heading the ratings with record 2872 ELO points. This is 11 points more than his previous record that he achieved in the January rating list. Carlsen achieved the new highest rating ever after convincinly winning Tata Steel 2013.
Second in the rating list, 62 points behind the leader, remains Vladimir Kramnik, who was inactive during the period and maintains the 2810 ELO rating. Third place is for the Olympic Champion Levon Aronian who rises 7 ELO points and is with 2809.
Teimour Radjabov remains 4th with no rating change despite Sergey Karjakin and Viswanathan Anand advancing in the list.
The biggest movement in top 10 was created by Caruana dropping 24 ELO points and sliding down to 13th position.
Highest rating gainer on the list is the US player Timur Gareev, winner of the North American Open.
Exactly 50 players are above 2700 ELO. The average of the top 100 list is at 2703 ELO, which is the same level as July 2012, and two points lower than the highest average from November 2012.
