FIDE Events Commission – Annual Meeting

The Chinese Chess Association hosted the FIDE Events Commission meeting in Zaozhuang, China, from 17 to 19 May 2012.

The meeting was chaired by FIDE General Secretary and Co-coordinator of FIDE Commissions Mr. Ignatius Leong. The Meeting was also attended by the Secretary of the Commission Mr.Theodoros Tsorbatzoglou (GRE), the councilor Mr. Ozgur Solakoglou (TUR), the Commission Members Mr. Bai Min (CHN) and Mr. Hisham Al Taher (U.A.E).

In attendance were the Asian Chess Federation Deputy President Mr. Casto Abundo (PHI), the Asian Chess Federation Treasurer Mr. Mehrdad Pahlevanzadeh (IRI) and the Delegate & Vice General Secretary of Chinese Chess Association, Ms. Tian Hongwei.

The Commission discussed various subjects in order to complete open projects by the co-ordination of Chairman Ignatius Leong. Main items in the agenda meeting were:

• The completion and printing of the FIDE Organizers Manual
• The completion of the IO title and Seminar Regulations
• The agenda and proposals for the coming FIDE Congress in Istanbul

The meeting took place during the Asian Nations Cup, organized in excellent conditions by the Chinese Chess Association and Asian Chess Federation.

HE Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al-Nehyan, President of the Asian Chess Federation, opened the competition by making the ceremonial opening move on board 1 of top seed China vs. Iraq.
