FIDE Women Grand Prix Tashkent – Kateryna Lagno joins the Indians on top

Ukrainian GM Kateryna Lagno defeated the former world champion Antoaneta Stefanova in round six of the FIDE Women Grand Prix that is currently ongoing in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Lagno moved ahead in the standings and is now sharing the first place with Indian representatives Humpy Koneru and Harika Dronavalli. Koneru and Dronavalli drew each other after a long struggle in the complicated endgame.

Ju Wenjun won the Chinese derby against Zhao Xue, while the winner of the first FIDE Women Grand Prix in Geneva IM Bela Khotenashvili scored against WGM Olga Girya.

Former world champion Alexandra Kosteniuk was victorious against WGM Guliskhan Nakhbayeva.
