The FIDE Women Grand Prix in Tashkent has started with 12 participants among which GM Alexandra Kosteniuk, GM Antoaneta Stefanova, GM Humpy Koneru, GM Zhao Xue, WGM Ju Wenjun, GM Kateryna Lagno, IM Bela Khotenashvili, GM Harika Dronavalli, GM Elina Danielian, WGM Olga Girya, WGM Guliskhan Nakhbayeva, and WGM Nafisa Muminova
GM Viktorija Cmilyte had to skip the Tashkent Grand Prix due to illness and her place went to WGM Guliskhan Nakhbayeba of Kazakhstan.
Tashkent has become a traditional chess place, it held a Grand Prix in 2012 and is home of the Georgy Agzamov Memorial. The FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov is happy about the tradition of organizing tournaments in Tashkent, and pointed that FIDE is planning to organize lots of even bigger events in the capital of Uzbekistan.
