First Saturday Tournaments – Results from the April 2013 edition

The April 2013 edition of the well-known First Saturday norm events took place on 6th – 16th April in Budapest, Hungary.

The main GM-norm tournament saw GM Andrei Kovalev winning, after edging the young Chinese untitled player Bai Jinshi on tie-breaks. Both players got 6/9 points. GM Krisztian Szabo arrived third.

The IM-norm 11 round Swiss open was won by IM Gudmundur Kjartansson with 8 points. FM Florian Hujbert finished half a point behind. Third place went to IM Adam Szeberenyi. Full results below.

IO Nagy László organizes this event in order to give young players the chance to get GM/IM and FM norms. The tournaments are played on the first or second week of each month.
