Five-way tie in Geneve International Open

The 28th Open International d’Échecs took place on 26-30th December in Genève, Switzerland. The tournament was divided in two groups, Open A for players rated above 1700 and Open B for U1800 players.

The playing format was 7-round Swiss. 16,000 CHF were given in prizes.

The Open A had 54 participants. Five Grandmasters shared the first place with 5.5 points each. GM Mihai Suba was the top placed senior, while Nikita Petrov was the best junior.

1-5. GM Campora Daniel H 2493 ARG, GM Guliyev Namig 2549 AZE, GM Khenkin Igor 2630 GER, GM Ivanisevic Ivan 2636 SRB and GM Fier Alexandr 2573 BRA – 5½
6. IM Gerber Richard 2400 SUI – 5.0
