The tournaments dedicated to Paul Keres will be held on January 7th

This holiday season FIDE’s Online platform has held a number of rapid and blitz events as present for its members. The events contained a Christmas rapid and blitz, a New Year’s rapid and blitz and an upcoming special on Paul Keres anniversary this January 7th.

According to the individual tournament results and the final standings of the Christmas 2015 Grand Prix, the winner CM Arystanbek Urazayev (KAZ) wins 14 months of FIDE Online Arena membership. Other players awarded were:

AGM Galindo, Tome H. Brasil Torres (BRA) – 8 months
Coca Cubillos, Jesus Alberto (COL) – 3 months
GM Efimov, Igor (MNC) – 2 months
Dyulgerov, Volen (BUL) – 1 month
AGM Nilson, Johnny (FID) – 1 month
Vovk, Orest (UKR) – 1 month
Isaev, Anton (RUS) – 1 month

A total of 271 players from 62 Federations (including 46 FIDE flag players) participated in the New Year’s 2016 GP. 19 players had higher FIDE title: 2 GM, 5 IM, 8 FM, 1 WFM, 2 CM, 1 WCM, while 94 players had online titles: 14 AGM, 47 AIM, 28 AFM, 5 ACM. The final standings again awarded free membership to the top players:

1st – FM Paulsen, Dirk (GER) with 36,5 points in his best-5 tournaments, (53,5 total points) – 14 months
2nd – Mr. Munoz, Jhon Edison (COL) with 36,5 points in his best-5 tournaments, (37,5 total points) – 7 months
3rd – Mr. Ratkus, Laimonas (LTU) with 36,5 points in his best-5 tournaments, (36,5 total points) – 5 months
4th – AGM Gavilan Jr, Arnulfo (PHI) with 35,5 points in his best-5 tournaments, (50,5 total points) – 3 months
5th – Mr. Coca Cubillos, Jesus Alberto (COL) with 34,5 points in his best-5 tournaments, (51 total points) 1 month
6th – Mr. Dong, Bao Nghia (VIE) with 34,5 points in his best-5 tournaments, (34,5 total points) 1 month
