Former European champion Zdenko Kozul is new Croatian champion

The 2016 Croatian Men’s Chess Championship was taking place from 19-29 January, at Valamar Diamant Hotel, in Porec, Croatia.

The event was a 10-player single round robin tournament with an average Elo rating of 2560.

After tense fight three players shared the first place with 6.5/11 points each, but 2006 European champion GM Zdenko Kozul emerged a winner based on a better tie-break criteria (number of wins).

GM Ante Brkic took the silver, while GM Ivan Saric remained third.
