Four-way tie for first place in Highlands Open 2014

TrebicThe 10th International Chess Festival Highlands Open 2014 was held from 17th to 24th May, 2014 at the Atom Hotel in Trebic, a town in the Vysocina Region of the Czech Republic.

The tournament was organized by AVE-KONTAKT s.r.o. in cooperation with Chess club Caissa Trebic and Regional Chess Association of Vysocina in a 9 round Swiss format with a time control 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game plus 30 seconds increment starting from move 1.

63 players from 7 different countries took part in the Festival, including 1 GM, 6 IMs and 1 FM. They were competing for the total prize fund in the amount of 20 000 CZK.

IM Sebastian Plischki (Germany), GM Mikhail Ivanov (Russia), IM Andrejs Strebkovs (Latvia) and IM Alexander Chudinovskih (Russia) shared first place with 6.5/9 points each, but IM Plischki took the trophy on superior tie-break score.
