French Chess Federation becomes a member of the French Olympic and Athletic Committee #TweetOftheDay

The General Assembly of the French Olympic and Athletic Committee brought the decision on May 23rd to accept the membership application of the French Chess Federation.

The French Olympic Committee General Assembly was held in the presence of all the member federations, the president, Ms. Brigitte Henriques, and the Minister of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Ms. Amélie Oudéa-Castéra. The president of the French Chess Federation Mr. Eloi Relange officially presented the application for affiliation of the French Chess Federation to French Olympic Committee – the organization which represents the French sports movement on the national territory and internationally.

This request, which had always been refused until now, was accepted by more than 85% of the votes. “This additional recognition will allow in particular access to all the sports systems (administrative and financial) which were not open to us until now, structural and logistical aid for our leagues and our committees, numerous training courses for our volunteers, etc. The French Chess Federation welcomes the trust placed in it by the French Olympic movement, and thanks all the clubs and the volunteers who support them for this new collective success for our discipline.” stated the French Chess Federation in the official press release.
