The Norwegian National Tournament 2012 was organized by the Sjakklubben Caissa on 7-14th July in Sandefjord. 437 players competed in one of the 7 Rating or 8 Age Classes.

Senior A: Males born 1952 or earlier, women born 1962 or earlier – (Also open to players with a rating below 1500)
Senior B: Males born 1952 or earlier, women born 1962 or earlier and the rating under 1500
Junior: Born 1992 or later (also open to players with a rating below 1500)
Junior B: Born 1992 or later and rating under 1500
Kadett A: Born 1996 or later (also open to players with a rating below 1250)
Kadett B: Born 1996 or later and rating below 1250
Lilliput: Born 1999 or later
Miniputt: Born 2001 or later
