George-Catalin Miroiu wins Bicaz City Cup in Romania

NM George-Catalin Miroiu took the winner’s trophy at the  Cupa Orusulai Bicaz 2013 that took place on 18-21 April at the “Bicazul” Chess Club in the town of Bicaz, Neamt County, Romania.

Miroiu edged his colleague George Paval on tiebreaks, as both players finished with 6/7 points. First seed IM Lucian Filip had to settle with the last place in the podium, despite the fact that he did not lose any game during the tournament.

The prize for first place was 1.500 Romanian leu (approx. 500 US dollars).

68 players participated at this weekend event.
