German Championship 2018

germany-flagThe 89th German Championship is a 9-round Swiss tournament taking place from 3-11 August 2018 in Dresden.

Venue: Wyndham Garden Dresden, Wilhelm-Franke-Strasse 90, 01219 Dresden
Mode: 9 round Swiss system. The thinking time is 90 minutes for 40 moves, then 30 minutes for the remaining moves and 30 seconds for each move from the start. Draw agreements before the 40th turn are only allowed with the consent of the referee.

6.30 pm: Technical meeting

19:30: Opening and dinner

Fri 03.08.2018 to Sat. 11.08.2018 2.00 pm: rounds 1 to 9

Sat. 11.08.2018 8 pm Award ceremony and dinner together

Sun. 12.08.2018: departure

Prices:

Price Fund: € 5,000; 1. 1 500 €, 2. 1 000 €, 3. 800 €, 4. 600 €, 5. 400 €,
6. 300 €, 7. 200 €, 8. 200 €

The first place winner receives the title “German Champion 2018”.
The players on positions 1 and 2 are eligible to participate in the German Chess Summit “, a round-robin tournament with as many as possible the best German chess players.
The highest placed player who does not participate in the “chess summit” is eligible for the German Chess Championship 2019 (April 25 to May 5, 2019 in Radebeul).

─ one each from the state associations Berlin, Brandenburg, Bremen, Hamburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg -Vorpommern, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Schleswig-Holstein, Thuringia,
─ a player of the German Blind and Visually Impaired Chess Federation,
─ the Dähne Cup winner 2017,
─ the winner of the A-Class of the German Chess Amateur Championship 2017,
─ players to be nominated by the Commission for competitive sports.
