Gibraltar

“I would recommend it to any chess parent” – Malcolm Pein, Chief Executive, Chess in Schools and Communities.

“The Tradewise Gibraltar Chess Festival, now in its 11th year, is often referred to as the Best Open Chess Tournament in the World. What we are doing with the Junior Chess Tournament, in partnership with the Government of Gibraltar, is seeking to extend that success to involve and engage with younger chess players from across the world, and in the time that we have been involved we have witnessed a revived interest in the playing of chess in Gibraltar amongst our young people.” – Albert Isola, trustee, Kusuma Trust.

Several well-known titled professional players have confirmed their attendance throughout the festival, where they will assist with special events, including coaching and simultaneous displays. All these players have been national or European champions!

Visiting Celebrity Chess Players: Viktorija Cmilyte (GM, Lithuania), Pia Cramling (GM, Sweden), Juan Manuel Bellon (GM, Spain), Jovanka Houska (IM, England), Stuart Conquest (GM, England).
