GM Alberto David wins 4th Anogia Open “Ideon Andro” 2015

AnogiaThe 4th Anogia Open “Ideon Andro” was held from July 9-16, 2015 at the conference Hall of Piraeus Bank, in Anogia, Crete.

The event was organized by Anogia Chess Club and Heraklio Chess Club, in co-operation with the Municipality of Anogia, Region of Crete, O.A.A. Heraklion, Hersonissos Chess Academy, Sport Club N. Alikarnassou “Nei Irodotou” and  Chess Club “Leon” Candia.

Italian player GM Alberto David emerged a clear winner of the 9-round Swiss tournament at 7.5/9 points.

He finished half a point in from of the runner-up, GM Tamir Nabaty of Israel.

David remained unbeaten with 6 wins and 3 draws.

In the meantime, Nabaty drew only two games, but lost the direct game against the tournament winner in round 6.

The third place was shared in a five-way tie by Konstantinos-Spyros Liodakis (Greece), GM Spyridon Skembris (Greece), Nikolas Theodorou (Greece), IM Dusan Lekic (Montenegro) and Paul Townsend (England), after the whole group finished the event with 6.5 points.
