GM Alexander Shabalov wins George Washington Open

The 3rd Annual George Washington Open was held from February 23-25, 2018, at the Westin Tysons Corner, 7801 Leesburg Pike (VA-7), Falls Church, Virginia.

The event featured five sections: Major, Under 2100, Under 1800, Under 1500 and Under 1200.

The Major section had 44 participants. Grandmaster Alexander Shabalov took a clear first place with 4,5/5 points to earn $1900 top prize.

1. GM Alexander Shabalov 2658 PA – 4,5
2-3. GM Sergey Erenburg 2648 PA and GM Elshan Moradiabadi 2613 NC – 4,0
4-10. GM Timur Gareyev 2668 KS, IM David Brodsky 2483 NY, Jennifer Yu 2441 VA, Lev Paciorkowski 2429 NY, Gabriel N Petesch 2423 PA, WGM Sabina-Francesca Foisor 2400 NC and Alex Wang 2218 PA – 3,5 etc

The total prize fund was $15,000.
