In the final round, after some probing with the White pieces, the long time tournament leader, GM Alexey Dreev (8), comfortably made a draw with an equally satisfied GM G N Gopal (7) to win the Indonesian Open Chess Championship (IOCC) 2013.

On second board GM Nigel Short (6.5) finally found his form and outplayed GM Alexander Moiseenko (7.5).

GM Surya Shekhar Ganguly (7) drew GM Batchuluub Tsegmed (6.5) in a tense struggle on third board while the remaining match on the stage between GM Abhijeet Gupta (6.5) and GM Marco Sandro (7) ended with the Indian former World Junior Champion showing his best game.

On the lower boards amongst the remaining players on 6.5/10 and in contention for a top ten finish, GM Oliver Barbosa found GM Dao Tien Hai too strong as the former Vietnam No. 1 comfortably halted his Kingside attack and then converted the endgame, GM Shyam Sundar M ended WGM Elisabeth Paehtz’s fine run, GM Susanto Megaranto quickly drew IM Nguyen Duc Hoa, GM Vaibhav Suri beat GM Darwin Laylo and GM Cao Sang lost to GM Vadim Malakhatko.
