The 2016 Marienbad Open Tournament was held from January 16-23, in Marianske Lazne, Czech Republic.

The event was a 10-player single round robin tournament with an average Elo rating of 2446.

GM Dmitry Kononeko from Ukraine emerged a solo winner with 7/9 points, leaving the runner-up IM Ori Kobo from Israel half a point behind.

The 19-year-old Israeli played at Elo performance 2613 to fulfill a GM norm and added 21 new Elo points ti his rating.

IM Ly Moulthum from Australia scored 5 points to take the bronze.
