GM Henrik Danielsen wins Iceland blitz championship

With the official coming of FIDE fast chess ratings, massive blitz and rapid championships have been going on around the globe in the month of December. Only this weekend we saw thousands participating in two continental events – Europe and South America (info here and here).

The national blitz championship of Iceland also took place collecting close to 100 players. First place was conqured by GM Henrik Danielsen with 9,5/11, ahead of IM Björn Þorfinnsson with 9,0/11, and a group of four players – GM Steingrímsson, GM Árnason, IM Þorfinnsson, and Einarsson – with 8,0/11

Top woman of the competition is Hallgerður Helga Þorsteinsdóttir, best in the category U2200 is Hrafn Loftsson, and best in the category U2000 is Gunnar Freyr Rúnarsson.
