The Czech Grandmaster GM Petr Neuman passed away at the age of 47. He was found dead in his apartment in Prague.
Petr Neuman (March 11, 1978 – April 29, 2025) was a Czech chess grandmaster, renowned for his active participation and success in national and international tournaments. Born in Rakovník, Czech Republic, Neuman achieved the International Master title in 2001 and the Grandmaster title in 2013.
Beyond playing, Neuman was a dedicated chess coach with 15 years of experience, holding a second-class trainer certification. He taught at a private school in Prague, covering mathematics and geography, and offered chess lessons, including online training. He was affiliated with the Český lev Kolešovice chess club and served on the Czech Chess Federation’s Trainer Commission until recently.
