GM Samuel Sevian wins Philadelphia Open on tie-break

The 11th Annual Philadelphia Open was held over the Easter weekend from April 12-16, 2017, at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, 1201 Market St., Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The event had 7 sections: Open, Under 2200, Under 2000, Under 1800, Under 1600, Under 1400 and Under 1100.

The main Open Section was a 5-day, 9-round Swiss tournament with FIDE norms possible. 91 players competed.

Grandmasters Samuel Sevian (2574 USA) and Angel Arribas Lopez (2498 Spain) shared the first place on 7,0/9 points to claim 5600 USD each. Sevian took the winner’s trophy and additional prize on better tie-break.
