GMs Kamsky and Kudrin share first place in Continental Open 2015

The 45th Annual Continental Open was held from August 13-16, 2015, at the Host Hotel at Cedar Lake, Sturbridge, Massachusetts.

The event was played over 7 sections: Open, Under 2100, Under 1900, Under 1700, Under 1500, Under 1300 and Under 1000. The tournament format was 6-round Swiss.

The Open section had 47 participants. Grandmasters Gata Kamsky and Sergey Kudrin shared the first place with 5,0/6 points to claim $2250 each. Kamsky took additional $200 bonus.

Open final standings:

1-2. GM Gata Kamsky 2753 NY and GM Sergey Kudrin 2586 CT – 5,0
3-5. GM Alexander Ivanov 2628 MA, GM Alexander Shabalov 2600 PA and Yi Yang 2312 MA – 4,5
6-10. GM Alex Lenderman 2728 NY, IM Joshua D Ruiz 2491 IL, IM Denys K Shmelov 2444 MA, Christopher Gu 2443 RI and Yoon-young Kim 2240 CT – 4,0

The total prize fund was $30,000.
