Gocher Open Concluded – GM Normunds Miezis is the Winner

The 22nd Internationales Gocher Open 2011 took place from 29th September to 2nd October at the Kultur und Kongreßzentrum Kastell in Goch, Germany.

The tournament was played over 7 rounds of Swiss pairing system, with the time control of 90 min + 30 sec for the first 40 moves and then 15 min + 30 sec for the rest of the game.

The playing hall capacities were full, with 150 registered players. GM Normunds Miezis LAT 2534 took a clear first place with 19 points, after defeating his colleague Lev Gutman with black in the final round. IM Karl-Heinz Podzielny is second with 18 points, thanks to six wins from 7 games.

Bilbao scoring system was used, 3 points for a win, 1 for draw, 0 for loss.

Top prizes are 1.000,- € / 700,- € / 450,- € / 250,- € / 150,- €. In addition there were 18 prizes for the top scorers in various rating groups.
