Greek Chess Federation confirms National Teams for 44th Chess Olympiad

The Greek Chess Federation Board met on Saturday, 4th of June, and among decisions related to the work of the Federation, confirmed the composition of National Teams for the upcoming 44th Chess Olympiad 2022. During the same meeting, the Board announced support of Makroupoulos’s candidacy for the position of FIDE Vice President.

Greek Team (Open section):

  1. GM Ioannis Papaioannou (2634)
  2. GM Hristos Banikas (2598)
  3. GM Nikolas Theodorou (2567)
  4. GM Dimitrios Mastrovasilis (2613)
  5. GM Athanasios Mastrovasilis (2539)

Five grandmasters with an average rating of 2590,2 will be led by GM Giannis Nikolaidis – the captain of the Open team.

Greek Team (Women’s Section):

  2. FM Anastasia Avramidou (2274)

The Greek Women’s Team will be captained by GM Vasilios Kotronias.
