My warmest congratulations to Anastasia Avramidou for the gold medal and to Evgenios Ioannidis and the other children who participated in the European Youth Chess Championships. The distinction of Anastasia honors Greece and opens the way for other kids to come closer and love chess.

The fact that for a 2nd year in a row our country has a European Youth Chess Champion, shows the good effort done by your side to keep this very interesting mind sport on the top. Sport in Schools is one of the priorities of our Ministry and you can understand our greatest pleasure when we hear of our student’s international achievements in such a young age.

My congratulations also to the Greek Chess Federation and the families of the children. Let’s wish that everything will go well, in this difficult period that our country is going through, so we can help you even more for future successes.
