16-year-old Indian chess prodigy Dommaraju Gukesh is the youngest Indian chess player who became Grandmaster at the age of 12 years, 7 months and 17 days, and he is the youngest Indian to break into World Top 100. Today, Gukesh broke another record as he became the youngest Indian chess player to cross 2700. With today’s victory against GM Liem Le Quang, Gukesh became the fourth youngest player event to cross 2700 after Wei Yi, Alireza Firouzja and Magnus Carlsen.
After four consecutive triumphs in Spain ( 1st Chessable Sunway Formentera Chess Festival 2022, 1st Menorca Chess Open 2022, the 48th La Roda Open 2022 and XIV Cerrado Ciudad de Gijon) and good performance at the Sharjah Chess Masters, Gukesh continued to shine at Biel Chess Festival 2022 where he competes in the Grandmasters triathlon. He has added a total of 58.5 ELO points to his rating and with a live rating of 2703.9, he holds the 2nd position on the World’s Junior live rating list and 32nd position on the live 2700+ rating list.
