The Gulf Coast New Year’s Open was held from 2-4th January, 2015, at the Holiday Inn Fort Myers Airport in Fort Myers, Florida, USA.
The tournament format was 5-round Swiss in six sections: Open (FIDE rated), U2100, U1800, U1600, U1350 and U1100.
The main Open section had 27 participants. Grandmasters Elshan Moradiabadi and Julio Becerra, and IM Orlen Ruiz Sanchez shared the first place with 4,0/5 points each to win 550 USD apiece.
The total prize fund was about 7500 USD.
