Hans Niemann was thoroughly checked before the fourth round of the Sinquefield Cup (VIDEO)

The day 4 of the Sinquefield Cup 2022 started with shocking news as it was announced that World Champion Magnus Carlsen withdrew from the 2022 tournament prior to the start of his Round 4 game against Shakhriyar Mamedyarov. Carlsen did not yet give a specific reason for his withdrawal, tweeting that he hopes to be back in Saint Louis in the future.

The story so far: Magnus Carlsen withdrew from the Sinquefield Cup 2022 without detailed explanations. Possible reasons of Magnus Carlsen’s withdrawal can be found here. Sinquefield Cup’s players and organizers reacted to Carlsen’s decision with Fabiano Caruana tweeting that he can’t wait to see the Hans effect on The Magnus Effect. Hans Niemann was shocked by Carlsen’s withdrawal and explained that he couldn’t even focus on his fourth round game against Firouzja. In the post-game interview, Hans added: At least I got to beat Magnus Carlsen before he left. Magnus Carlsen’s results were annulled after his withdrawal and Wesley So took the lead in the tournament.

The rumors that Hans Niemann was banned at least twice by Chess.com for engine cheating in the last few years started spreading over the social media and Nakamura confirmed during his live stream that Hansen has done “unallowed things” at the tournaments.

Before the start of the fourth round, Niemann was thoroughly checked with anti-cheating devices. See the video below
