Organized by the Vietnam Chess Federation, the Happy Chess Project is dedicated to supporting orphans, children with disabilities, and those in difficult circumstances living in shelters and SOS villages across Vietnam. Across its first three seasons, the program has reached hundreds of children in provinces such as Ho Chi Minh City, Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu, and Long Thành—bringing meaningful learning and play through chess. By blending chess with physical activities like Zumba, table tennis, soccer, and more, the initiative fosters balanced growth: strategic thinking, confidence, fitness, and a sense of belonging.
The project is Led by Dang Anh Quoc and Nguyen Tien Sang, together with physical instructors like Quy Tran and Tu Anh, the project continues to inspire hope and cognitive development among children in need. We believe that each chess piece placed on the board is not just a move in the game, but also the first step on the journey of self-discovery, training thinking, and learning to make choices—things that will follow the children throughout their lives,” said Dr. Jane Nguyễn, Vice President, Vietnam Chess Federation
The mission of the project is to distribute 100,000 chess sets and engage 1,000 volunteer coaches to bring chess, life skills, and joy to disadvantaged children.
The Happy Chess is part of FIDE Social Chess Year
