Houdini takes the sole lead in TCEC – Stage 2

HoudiniHoudini 4 takes the sole lead in the strongest computer engine competition  TCEC Season 7 – Stage 2 after defeating Protector 1.8b1 in  82 moves. The leader has 6/7 points winning 5 consecutive games. His only loss was against Chiron 2 in the second round of the competition.

TCEC Season 6 Superfinalists Komodo and Stockfish share second place on 5.5 points, followed by Stage 1a winner Gull with 5 points and Junior 13.3. with 4.5 points.

Rules of TCEC Stage 2

Stage 2 consists of the 14 engines that qualified from Stage 1. It is a single round robin. The top 8 move on to Stage 3 while the rest are out of TCEC for the current Season.

Each engine can use up to all 16 cores of the processors, for the full power of the engine. The time control is 120 minutes + 30 seconds added per move for the whole game. The top 8 move on to Stage 3.
