Ilmars Starostits and Laura Rogule are Latvian Chess Champions

The Latvian Chess Championship 2022 and Latvian Women’s Chess Championship 2022 took place from April 27 – May 4 in Riga.

GM Ilmars Starostits convincingly won the men’s championship scoring 8/9 points. Starostits became the Latvian Champion for the second time in his career, 20 years after his first National triumph in 2002.

WGM Laura Rogule dominated the Women’s event with 8/9 points, clinching her 12th title of Latvian Women’s Chess Champion.
