The Italian Chess Championship started Rome, Hotel Villa Maria Regina. It is a 12 players round robin that will go on until December 2nd, 2013.
Round 1 started with a bang, as the 2012 Italian Champion GM Alberto David was defeated by IM Caprio. GM David went into a difficult game right from the opening and started consuming a lot of time. In zeitnot inaccuracies came one after the other and the result 1-0 was agreed upon in move.
