Izoria and Kekelidze share first in Long Island Open

The 7th Annual Long Island Open was held from March 1-3, 2013, at the Holiday Inn Long Island – Islip Airport, 3845 Veterans Memorial Highway, Ronkonkoma, New York.

Grandmasters Zviad Izoria and last-year winner Mikheil Kekelidze finished atop of a hard fought Open Section, both with an undefeated 4,0/5.

Izoria was declared the winner on tie-breaks earning himself $960 for his weekend’s efforts while Kekelidze collected $880.

The event had a $12,000 prize fund based on 160 paid entries with $8,000 guaranteed. There were 5 sections: Open, Under 2100, Under 1800, Under 1500 and Under 1200.

Open section final standings:
1-2. GM Zviad Izoria 2617 NY and GM Mikheil Kekelidze 2598 NY – 4.0
3-5. GM Aleksandr Lenderman 2674 NY, FM Anthony Renna 2371 NY and Josue N Castillo 2250 NY – 3.5
6-9. IM Jay Richard Bonin 2420 NY, Yefim Treger 2247 NY, Aravind Kumar 2104 NJ and Robert K Wisbauer 1816 NY – 3.0 etc
