Jeffery Xiong shines in Chicago Open 2015

The 24th Annual Chicago Open was held May 21-25, 2015, at the Westin Chicago North Shore Hotel, 601 North Milwaukee Ave, Wheeling, Illinois.

The event had 8 sections: Open, Under 2300, Under 2100, Under 1900, Under 1700, Under 1500, Under 1300 and Under 1000.

The Open section with 113 participants was played over 9 rounds of Swiss system (May 21-25) with the time control 40/2, SD/30 d10.

14-year old IM Jeffery Xiong, student of GM Babakuli Annakov and GM Evgeny Pigusov, won the Open Section finishing with 7,0/9 points to claim a $10,300 prize and his 3rd GM norm.
