Kamsky, Barbosa and Erenburg share first in Washington Chess Congress

The Washington Chess Congress was held from October 8-13, 2014, at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City, 2799 Jefferson Davis Highway, Arlington, Virginia.

The event had 4 sections: Premier, Under 2100, Under 1700 and Under 1300. The tournament format was 7-round Swiss with the time control 40/110, SD/30, d10.

The total prize fund was around $23,000, significantly down from the expected $40,000.

The main Premier section had 38 participants. Grandmasters Gata Kamsky, Oliver Barbosa and Sergey Erenburg shared the first place with 5,5/7 points each.
