Rating favorite Kiril Georgiev took first place at the Bulgarian Absolute Chess Championship 2013 which was held on 16th-25th April in the town of Bankia.
Georgiev was undefeated and obtained 8/11 points, leaving his closest follower a whole point behind. Thus, he gained the right to participate in the European Individual Championship with the support of the Bulgarian Chess Federation.
IM Ivajlo Enchev finished second, while GM Momchil Nikolov got the last place at the podium.
Twelve qualified players battled in a single round robin tournament. The time control was 90 minutes for the first 40 moves plus 30 minutes to finish the game and 30 seconds increments per move.
