Lenderman, Moradiabadi and Paragua share first place in 60th Maryland Open

The 60th edition of the traditional Maryland Open took place from 25th to 27th April, 2014 at Rockville Hilton, in Maryland, the United States.

The tournament was split into 7 sections: Championship, U2200, U2000, U1800, U1600, U1400, U1100.

The Championship Section gathered 31 players, including 4 GMs, 4 IMs, 1 WGM and 6 FMs.

The tournament format was a 5 round FIDE and the prizes were determined not by final standings, but by players’ final score in points. The players who finish with 5/5 points receive 1600 $, with 4.5/5 – 800$, with 4/5 – 450 $ and with 3.5/5 – 175$.

First place was shared in a 3-way tie by GM Aleksandar Lenderman, GM Elshan Moradiabadi and GM Mark Paragua with 4/5 points. According to the tournament rules, they earn 400$ each.
