Long Island Open 2013

The 7th Annual Long Island Open will be held from March 1-3, 2013, at the Holiday Inn Long Island – Islip Airport, 3845 Veterans Memorial Highway, Ronkonkoma, New York.

The event has a $12,000 prize fund based on 160 paid entries with $8,000 guaranteed. Last year winner was GM Mikheil Kekelidze.

The event has 5 sections: Open, Under 2100, Under 1800, Under 1500 and Under 1200. All sections have either 3-day (March 1-3) or 2-day (March 2-3) schedules to play in.

Open Section: $1500-700-400-300, clear winner or 1st on tiebreak $100 bonus, top U2300/Unr $500-250. FIDE rated.
Under 2100 Section: $1000-500-300-200, top U1900 (no unr) $400-200.
Under 1800 Section: $1000-500-300-200, top U1600 (no unr) $400-200.
Under 1500 Section: $800-400-250-150, top U1300 (no unr) $300-150.
Under 1200 Section: $500-250-150-100, trophies to first 3, top Under 1000, Under 800, Under 600, Unrated.

Unrated may enter any section, with prize limits: Under 1200 $200, Under 1500 $400, or Under 1800 $600. Balance of any limited prize goes to next player(s) in line.

Top 4 sections entry fee: $105 online at chessaction.com by 2/26, $110 phoned to 406-896-2038 by 2/26 (entry only, no questions), 3-day $108, 2-day $107 if check mailed by 2/20, all $120 at site, or online until 2 hours before first game.

Under 1200 Section entry fee: all $50 less than above.
Advance or online entry fee $5 less to NYSCA members.
Re-entry $60; not available in Open Section. GMs free; $100 deducted from prize.
