Marin Bosiocic dominates at Opatija Open

The Opatija International Open 2013 took place on June 29th – July 7th at the Grand Hotel Adriatica, Marsala Tita 200, Opatija – Croatia.

Croatian GM Marin Bosiocic arrived as the second seed and dominated the event from start to finish. He obtained a remarkable 8.5/9 score to take home the 1.000 Euros first prize.

Bosiocic only drew his sixth round game against Italian Angelo Salmoiraghi and won the rest of the games. His rating performance was 2680, which will add 9 rating points in the next FIDE rating list.

The surprise of the event was 14-years old Croatian Sven Tica, who got second place with 6.5 points. He edged first seed GM Andrey Shariyazdanov (third place) and Russian IM Boris Fradkin on tiebreaks.

Prizes (in €): 1000, 600, 300, 150, 100, 50.
