Metz Open 2016

The 34th Open International d’echecs de Metz was held from 10-16th April, 2016, at the Complexe Saint-Symphorien Longeville-Les-Metz in Metz, France.

The playing format was 9-round Swiss and there were two sections: Open A for players rated above 1900 and Open B for players rated under 2000.

The total prize fund was 8200 EUR with 2500 EUR reserved for the winner. The organizer was the chess club Metz Alekhine.

The main section had 34 participants. Grandmasters Mikhail Brodsky, Marius Manolache and Vladimir Onischuk shared the first place with 6,5/9 points each. Brodsky is declared winner on best tie-break.

Open B had 39 players. Denis Steininger 1853 and Luc Francois 1866 (both France) shared the first place with 7,0/9 points each.
