Nakamura unhappy with the security procedures at the FIDE Candidates Tournament

The American grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura seems unhappy with the security check procedure at the FIDE Candidates tournament 2022. Just a few minutes before the start of the 4th round, Nakamura’s wallet was scanned with a metal detector and he had to show all the credit cards in the wallet. Only two days ago, Hikaru was late with his games recaps as he was answering FIDE’s complaint on the dress code, possibly because he wore jeans in the third round, and shared on his Twitter account “FIDE wants us all to look like it’s 1970’s at the IBM headquarters“. A coincidence is that just before the start of the second round, the sponsor of Candidates Chess 2022 Isai Scheinberg made the ceremonial first move wearing jeans as well.

The dress code and security procedures have to be settled between Nakamura and the organizers according to the agreement they signed. However, we have to kindly ask FIDE to provide Nakamura with a computer mouse, as he keeps on looking for it during the games! :)
