FIDE has oficially announced the July rating list. Leader one more time is Veselin Topalov, who gained 1 point from the Mtel Masters tournament to equalize his all time best rating of 2813. The next event for Topalov is the Zurich Chess 200th anniversary, after which he has consecutive participations in Bilbao Final Masters 2009 and Nanjing 2009.

Second position is for the World Champion and opponent of Topalov for the WCC 2010, GM Viswanathan Anand, with 2788. Anand gained 5 points from the two games he played in the Bundesliga.

The third position is for Magnus Carlsen, who continues to be the top junior as well. Carlsen has 2772 and is closely followed by Aronian with 2768.

The race for the 5th position was quite intense, as we find five players into a ten point margin. GM Dmitry Jakovenko is the highest rated of them. With his good performance he also became the highest rated Russian player, with 3 points more than Vladimir Kramnik. Both Kramnik and Jakovenko will soon meet on the board during the Dortmund tournament to discuss that in direct matches.

After being inactive for Q1 of 2009, Leko played 13 games to gain 5 points and stay in the top 10. Radjabov is 8th and Morozevich 10th, both without activity on this list, while Gelfand’s rating skyrocketed and is 2755 (position 9), after 27 games with 22 points gain.

The rest of the list is quite clear, having in mind Hans Arild Runde keeps good track of the players above 2700, which are 31 people on the current list (scroll down for full list).

It becomes interesting after position 33. GM Onischuk is just a point from entering the 2700 club. He has 2699 and for a 4th consecutive list gains rating. For the last 12 months his increase is over 55 points.

Sergei Tiviakov crashed to 57th position, while Igor Kurnosov gained 10 points more to get a step closer to the top 50. Finally there is light in the tunel for GM David Navara, who gained 33 points from 19 games to climb to 42nd position.

Among the juniors in the top 100 leader is Carlsen, followed by Karjakin (position 20), Vachier-Lagrave (position 29), Wang Hao (position 39), Fabiano Caruana (position 59), Dmitry Andreikin (position 86), and Wesley So (position 92).

Judith Polgar is king of the women ratings with 50+ point advantage ahead of Humpy Koneru. Yifan Hou is on clear 3rd position, while the battle for the 4th place heats up as there are 7 players in 20 points margin.
