GM Ahmed Adly wins the Egyptian chess championship
The U20 world champion GM Ahmed Adly won the Egyptian chess championship. Adly was leading the event from the very beginning, but never got a clear advantage. In the first five rounds he was closely followed by FM Wageih Kareim and in the last rounds the untitled Naby Saiid caught up with them. In an exciting fotofinish GM Adly won the championship with 7,5/9, followed by Naby Saiid with 7,0/9 and Wageih Kareim with 6,0/9. Congratulations to GM Adly!

Salona 2007 chess tournament
GM Antoaneta Stefanova and GM Ante Saric lead the strong GM tournament Salona 2007. They have 3,0/4 and are on top of the 9 round round robin event. In the tournament participate the last year’s winner GM Bojan Kurajica (CRO 2554), IM Yelena Dembo (GRE 2448) who had birthday a few days ago, GM Vladimir Georgiev (MKD 2576), GM Oleg Romanishin (UKR 2547), WGM Natalia Pogonina (RUS 2462), GM Emir Dizdarevic (CRO 2504), GM Michelle Godena (ITA 2535), and GM Ante Brkic (CRO 2577).

World Chess Cup
The World Cup is entering in it’s decisive phase. GM Kamsky eliminated GM Carlsen in the first semi final match. In the second encounter GM Karjakin missed significant advantage against GM Shirov and the game is going into a tiebreak. Serbian party in Spain
The Serbian GMs crushed opposition at the second Granada International open chess tournament. GM Damljanovic (SCG, ELO 2569) got the first place with 7,5/9 followed by GM Paunovic (SCG, ELO 2537) and GM Strikovic (SCG, ELO 2557) with 7,0. GM Movsziszian (ARM, ELO 2575) finished fourth. Fifth place was for the top seeded GM Korneev (RUS, 2626)

Commonwealth chess championship
GM Ramesh won the traditional Commonwealth chess championship with 8,5/10. He clinched victory after a nice win over IM Vikramaditya Kamble in the last round of the competition. Second is GM Shekhar Ganguly Surya with 8,5, the same points as GM Ramesh, but with a worse tiebreak. Third place is for IM Abhijeet Gupta with 8,0/10.
