67th Italian Chess Championship
Italy Il Campionato Italiano Assoluto is taking place November 23 – December 4 in Martina Franca. After four rounds lider is GM Fabiano Caruana with 4,0/4, followed by IM Bruno Fabio and GM Carlos Garcia Palermo with 3,5 and GM Michele Godena, IM Frederico Manca, IM Giulio Borgo, IM Roberto Mogranzini with 2,5. Wijk Aan Zee – Cultural Village
Netherlands Cultural Village Chess tournament is taking place in Wijk aan Zee. After 8 rounds GM Dimitri Reinderman is leading with 6,5/8. He is followed by GM Dorian Rogozenko 6,0/8, GM Ralf Akesson and IM Robert Ris 5,0/8. Tomorrow is the last round and GM Dimitri Reinderman will meet Thomas Willemze in attempt to secure the first place in Wijk aan Zee. International Belgrade Open Chess Championship
Serbia International Belgrade Open Chess Championship is taking place on 22-30 November in traditional venue “Hotel Obrenovac”. There are big delegations from Iceland, Spain, Romania and Macedonia, 226 players are breaking the record in participation. Current leaders are IM Zivanic and GM Stanojoski with 5,5/7 followed by GM Rajkovic , Nestorovic, GM Manolache, GM Parligras, FM Solomunovic, GM Martinovic, FM Baratosi, IM Brenjo, IM Perunovic, and FM Brujic with 5,0/7. Open ‘Mediterranean 2013’ Rijeka
Croatia the Open ‘Mediterranean 2013’ Rijeka Chess tournament is taking place November 11 – December 02 in Croatia. It features 14 GMs and 15 IMs, among which GM Sedlak, GM Miladinovic, GM Chatalbashev, GM Cebalo, form a strong field. After 4 rounds is leading GM Kovacevic followed by 10 players with 3,5. Knut Brokstads Minneturnering 2007
Norway Knut Brokstads Minneturnering 2007 took place on 17-18th November at Britannia Hotell in Trondheim, Norway. Top rated group formed fairly strong swiss with 12 players. IM Jon Ludvig Hammer continued playing in wonderful shape after the European Team Chess Championship and Politiken Cup and won the event with 4.0 points. Jon Kristian Haarr (NOR 1922) claimed first place among 62 players in the U2000 section with 4.5/5 points More info on Knut Brokstad report page and the official website

Commonwealth Chess Championship 2008
India The 2008 edition of the Commonwealth Chess Championship will take place December 2-10 in India. It will be a Swiss 10 rounds event with a prize fund of 20.000 USD. Until the 27th of November there are 278 confirmed players. Among them are GM Niaz Murshed, GM Reefat Bin Sattar, GM Johans Gawain, IM Aleksandar Wohl, GM Parimarjan Negi etc. The whole list is on the official website

Ascona Chess Festival 2007
Switzerland The Ascona Chess Festival will take place from the 3rd to the 9th of December, 2007, in Lugano, Switzerland. It will consist of 3 tournaments – The Ascona Open, the U25 Young Masters, and the InterNET Open. The main event will feature many strong GMs and IMs. Among them will be GM Boris Chatalbashev (champion of Bulgaria and participant in the ETCC 2007), GM Mihajlo Stojanovic (a frequent Chessdom contributor), GM Ivan Ivanisevic, GM Vadim Malakhatko, GM Christian Bauer, IM Elena Sedina, etc. More info on http://previews.chessdom.com/
