San Luis to host a Grand Slam event in 2009

In a letter to the Chessdom.com editorial staff, Zhivko Ginchev has informed that starting from 2009 the city of San Luis will host a Grand Slam event. San Luis is the city where Veselin Topalov won his World Championship title in 2005. Expect all the details about the new Grand Slam event later on the pages of Chessdom.

Sportsperson award of the year

Veselin Topalov has been nominated for Bulgarian Sportsperson of the Year together with Grigor Dimitrov (tennis), Dimitar Berbatov (football), Kiril Terziev (wrestling), Kubrat Pulev (boxing), Petar Stoychev (swimming), Radoslav Velikov (wrestling), Rumyana Neykova (rowing), Stanka Zlateva (wrestling), Yavor Yanakiev (wrestling). From now it is known that he will not be among the top 3, where the Olympic gold medalists and the new Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov are expected to appear. However, the nomination itself is a good achievement for Veselin Topalov.
