Anand is on top
The October FIDE rating list was published today. The big surprise is that the WCC Mexico 2007 results are included. This means that on top of the rating list is the world chess champion Vishy Anand with a rating of 2800+. This is the second time Vishy breaks the 2800 ELO barrier. Curiously, the first time (when he had ELO 2803) he was not on top of the list.
The second place is for Vassily Ivanchuk. Even though the Ukranian GM was not present at the WCC in Mexico, he had a wonderful performance since the last update of the rating list. Ivanchuk won Aerosvit Foros and Pivdenny chess cup with impressive results.
In the list follow Vladimir Kramnik and Veselin Topalov. Morozevich, Aronian, and Svidler drop some places. Hopefully, this time the calculations are precise and there won’t be any updates.
