Organizing Committee of the FIDE World Championship Match

The Organizing Committee for the FIDE World Chess Championship Match between Viswanathan Anand and Boris Gelfand has been formed on Monday in Moscow.

Members of the Committee are: Chairman of the Supervisory Council of the Russian Chess Federation Arkady Dvorkovich, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of RCF Alexander Zhukov, Director of the Tretyakov Gallery Irina Lebedeva, Chairman of the RCF Ilya Levitov, match sponsor Andrey Filatov and match sponsor Gennady Timchenko.

The Organizing Committee reaffirmed that it will hold the event on the highest level. The FIDE World Championship Match is the most important competition in the chess calendar. The preparations have entered its final phase.

The match between the world champion Viswanathan Anand (India) and challenger Boris Gelfand (Israel) will be held on 10-31st May, 2012, at the Engineering Building of the State Tretyakov Gallery.

For the first time the WCC Match will take place in one of the largest museums in the world. The initiator and sponsor of the match in Moscow is Russian businessman Andrei Filatov. It was exactly his idea to suggest the Tretyakov Gallery for the playing venue.
