Pan-American Youth Chess Festival 2025

The Confederation of Chess for Americas (CCA) and the Peruvian Sports Chess Federation have announced the XXXV Pan-American Youth Chess Festival will be held from July 27 to August 3, at the Callao Regional Sports Village in Lima, Peru.

There will be 12 sections in the tournament, Open and Girls for each age category: Under 18, Under 16, Under 14, Under 12, Under 10 and Under 8. A player’s age as of January 1, 2025 determines their age eligibility for a section.

Each event will be a 9-round Swiss system tournament, using a time control of Game/90 minutes with a 30 second increment from move one.

The US Chess Federation is pleased to announce that 12 players have qualified as Official Representatives (OR) (from the 2025 Invited Players List), and 11 players who qualified on the basis of their gold medal performances at the XXXIV Pan-American Youth Chess Festival have earned the right to be Personal Rights (PR) Representatives of the US at the XXXV Pan-American Youth Chess Festival.

OR and PR players receive a travel stipend and free coaching, and are reimbursed for hotel, entry fees, and administrative fees after the completion of the tournament. Said financial refunds will only be provided after the event has concluded and the player has played all rounds of the tournament without behavioral issues reports from the Chief Organizer and/or Chief Arbiter and their respective deputies.  Travel and all fees for accompanying persons are the player’s responsibility.

Please note that the organizer provided accommodation for OR and PR players is a half-room double occupancy for seven nights, from July 27 through August 3. Buffet breakfast lunch, and dinner, served meals from lunch on July 27th until Breakfast, August 3.

Registration Deadline for OR and PR consideration: Friday, May 9, 2025, 5:00 p.m. CDT.

Invoice must be paid: Friday, May 16, 2025, 5:00 p.m. CDT.

If an OR in an age category (listed below) declines to attend, then the highest rated player, according to the US Chess Feb. 2025 rating supplement, in that category who is registered by Friday, May 9, 2025, 5:00 p.m. CDT and paid by Friday, May 16, 2025, 5:00 p.m. CDT, will be considered the OR.

All OR and PR players who plan to attend must be registered by Friday, May 9, 2025, 5:00 p.m. CDT and paid by Friday, May 16, 2025, 5:00 p.m. CDT, will be considered the OR.
